Occasionally it's as though the universe hands us a present, in which someone says something so outrageous that they practically make our case for us. Mr. Dan Gransinger, pharmacy manager at the K-Mart in Tolleson, Arizona is one of those people, and to him we tip our hats. For those of you who missed it last week, take a moment to read the letter Mr. Gransinger submitted to the Arizona Republic... and with a straight face!" Since Gov. Janet Napolitano has vetoed the 'conscience bill' that would have allowed pharmacists to refuse to fill abortion and emergency-contraception prescriptions based on religious or moral views, I have a solution: "The pharmacist should just tell the patient that he is out of the medication and can order it, but it will take a week to get here. The patient will be forced to go to another pharmacy because she has to take these medicines within 72 hours for them to be effective. Problem solved."In response, NARAL Pro-Choice Arizona wrote a letter to the management of Kmart asking that action be taken in this matter. Part of its letter states "In his letter, Mr. Gransinger advises other pharmacists who are morally opposed to dispensing emergency contraception to lie to customers about the products' availability. He seems proud of his clever deception, showing no concern for the customer's safety or health. We at NARAL find his attitude toward women's health deplorable. His statements show a total disregard for the law, and a complete lack of understanding of the burden many women, especially poor women or those who live in rural areas, may face if forced to fill their prescription at another pharmacy. "Mr. Gransinger's response has been to the effect of, he never said he would lie to his customers, he merely offered lying as one possible solution. Get that? He didn't explicitly say, as a pharmacist and pharmacy manager, that he would violate the Pharmacist Code of Ethics, which upholds that "a pharmacist acts with honesty and integrity in professional relationships." Goodness, no. He advised other pharmacists, like theoretically, those who work under him at the Tolleson Kmart pharmacy, to violate the Pharmacist Code of Ethics.Look very closely at this fine, fine hair. Now watch carefully as Mr. Gransinger attempts to split it.
It seems that alot of these "faith based" fools are doing just this. In my eyes they are violating their oath. Remember my luvs what goes around comes around. I will laugh most heartly the day they need something and can't get it because "it's against my beliefs".
